He attended and graduated Morgan State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science in 1973. He then made his way to Newark, N.J., to attend Rutgers University School of Law. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 1976, and thereafter earned his MBA in Finance from the Rutgers Graduate School of Business in 1977. He was admitted to the bars of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. From 2016 through 2018 he attended Harvard University Graduate School of Museum Studies and received a Certificate of Completion in Museum Studies.Mr. Taylor commenced his career as a Financial Planner with The Hartford National Bank in Connecticut (now merged into Bank of America). Thereafter, he returned to Newark, as Assistant Business Administrator for the City; then became an Administrator with the Newark Board of Education.In 1980, Taylor founded the law firm of Mitchell, Taylor and Young, with offices in Paterson, N.J. He has practiced law in New Jersey for over 30 years, and is currently the owner/Partner of the Law Offices of Robert Taylor, in East Orange, N.J. He was formerly a producer in the Oil and Gas industry, and has served as Founder and Executive Director of Urb’n Flo Records, Inc. Mr. Taylor has counseled numerous voluntary and non-profit Boards/Foundations and other organizations locally, nationally and internationally; in addition to representing many developers and businesses enterprises.A world traveler, an author, writing contributor to Black Enterprise Magazine; and avid collector of African Art, Robert Taylor has gained a wealth of knowledge in some of Africa’s most treasured artistic pieces; including ancient hand carvings and tribal masks. He annually sponsors and curates a series of art exibitions.
